Student Teachers

Student Teachers

We welcome your participation in the Our World Irish Aid Awards. Your teaching placements are a fantastic opportunity to include development education as a theme in many curricular areas for 3rd to 6th classes.

Registered teachers receive a Teacher’s Booklet, our popular Pupils’ Magazines, and have access to online resources (lesson plans for 3rd and 4th , and 5th and 6th classes, quizzes, activities, etc.) through

The resources support the delivery of various curriculum strands, particularly in Geography, SPHE, Art and English.

More than one teacher in a school can register. If you register as a student teacher, we can also send some additional materials to share with your Principal or another teacher in your school. Your Principal may be able to identify a teacher within the school who has taken part in the Awards in previous years, and who may be able to offer support and advice.

Taking part in the first term:

If you are on placement in the first term, and will not be continuing into term 2, or are on a placement of less than 10 weeks, you can still register and use the extensive learning resources and incorporate them into your lessons, without submitting an entry project.

To register, please contact the Project Office and let us know you are a student teacher. Contact details are provided at the bottom of this page.

Taking part in the second term:

If you are on placement for over 10 weeks from January to March, you may have the opportunity to use the resources and also submit an entry before April 3rd 2020. However, to submit an entry you should seek permission from your Principal. It is essential to nominate another teacher from your school to be named on the entry, in the event that the entry progresses to Regional Awards ceremony and the National Final.

You are welcome to contact the Our World Awards team here for any further information you may require.
