Day 10: Small Actions can Make a Big Difference

In today’s activities, you will learn the importance of working together to tackle climate change and see how little actions can make a big difference to the environment

Pupils will watch How Much Plastic is in the Ocean to see the effects single use plastic pollution is having on our sea life and how we can all help. Activities will help you to practice your reading comprehension, writing and artistic skills and to think critically about the link between climate action and plastic pollution.

Below are some helpful instructions to guide you through today’s activities. Please note downloads are available in Irish and English.

Step 4: Pollution in Our Seas Wordsearch

Want to go further?

Get Crafty: reuse materials you might have lying around your house to make Climate Action art. Click here for how to make a toilet paper windmill (because wind power is better than using fossil fuels). Or check out this site for how to make a plastic piggy bank (and help make sure that your single use plastic bottle does not end up in our seas or oceans). Remember, the idea is to reuse items you already have in your home, so if you don’t have the materials used in the videos, try making your artwork with something different!

Tabhair faoin gCeardaíocht: athúsáid ábhair atá thart ar an teach agat chun saothar ealaíne a dhéanamh ar mhaithe leis an nGníomhú ar son na hAeráide. Cliceáil anseo go bhfeicfidh tú conas muileann gaoithe a dhéanamh as páipéar leithris (mar gheall gur fearr cumhacht na gaoithe a úsáid ná breoslaí iontaise). Nó féach ar an suíomh seo go bhfeicfidh tú conas muicín taisce a dhéanamh as plaisteach (lena chinntiú nach san fharraige nó san aigéan a bheidh do bhuidéal plaisteach aonúsáide amach anseo). Cuimhnigh, is é atá i gceist earraí atá agat sa teach cheana a athúsáid, mar sin mura bhfuil na hábhair a úsáidtear sna físeáin agat, déan iarracht do shaothar ealaíne a dhéanamh as rud difriúil!
